We have had a crappy backyard for the past 3 years. 3 times now, Justin with the help of one friend or another, has cleaned up all of the tumbleweeds. Justin built a fire pit. His friend Jeff, dug out part of a pond/creek that we wanted to eventually do. He half-assed planted some trees and bushes. Half of them died. Half survived. Justin put in a drip system to the surviving trees and bushes. This is all we accomplished (we, haha, I said WE! I mean Justin, I don't do yard work, I accomplished nothing). That is it.
This is the before. Nasty!
Then it happened. We had a garage sale. We made a butt-load of money and wanted to spend it on finishing (really starting and finishing) our backyard. We realized we had a friend who loves to garden. We hired her. She shopped for all of the materials, helped us realize our vision for the backyard, weeded all of those damn tumbleweeds, planted 30 plants and trees, hooked up more of our drip system to the new plants. Laid down black plastic, shoveled rock (for many, many moons), drove to get more rock, drove to hand pick out bigger rocks, sweated in the heat, she thought she'd never finish.
Oh but she did. And she did a wonderful, wonderful, amazing job. We would have never done this, never. Not all of that work.
This is our backyard now:
So Amy, thank you so much for all of your hard work! We would have never done this without you! Each time I look at our backyard, I think about all of that hard work you did. We appreciate it so very much. So very much.
We just need to get a patio set (waiting for it to go on sale at the end of the season) and a hammock. We are planning to have a backyard BBQ something or another in the next month-ish or so to celebrate.
